Description

Sergio Valentino was born in the front room of a terrace house in Canning Street, Carlton, in 1938. He was part of a generation of children born locally to Italian immigrants who brought with them an understanding of ingredients that would change the narrative of Australian food and eating. Food is central to Italian community living. What couldn’t be purchased, was made by hand, particularly salami, sausages, pasta and cheese.
